Well, it's official. The 10Weeks to a Web2.0 You Social Media Training Program kicks off today. Right now, this is just for library staff, but we are collecting up all of the training tools, presentations, etc. to create a website which anyone can use.

Just a couple of various links from various places:how to build mobile versions of existing sites, including links to some mobile site building tools: http://designshack.co.uk/articles/css/quick-tips-for-creating-a-mobile-optimized-siteHow undergraduates use wikipedia:http://www.ui

Depending on what browser and resolution you are using, you may find that your content (such as blog posts) which have embedded videos are running over your blog post area. You COULD change your stylesheet, but if everything works except for embedded Youtube videos, an easier answer might be to change the width of the Youtube player. This is super easy to do.First you need to find a video that you want to use. ;-) Not all Youtube videos are embeddable and many copyrighted ones are not.

Okay, so it's not really my roomba's birthday, but it IS the 20th anniversary of irobot. irobot started out as military kind of robot proj and now, it's cleaning my floors... LOL I need a scooba though! ;-)[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vf9wHkkNGUU&hl=en_US&fs=1&]Anyhow, I wandered over to the irobot site and discovered this popup "warning" (I'm still laughing, what doesn't it cover?

this is kind of nifty.. Just about the time that I was feeling that I was about to click off, it actually changed direction. So stick with it -- lots of stereotypes about 'net users and millenials (altho' never called such):[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Weq_sHxghcg&hl=en_US&fs=1&]

Interesting article about a potential project involving google, paypal, verizon and others."Open Identity Exchange (OIX) is a newly founded non-profit organization, launched today at the RSA Conference 2010 by Google, PayPal, Equifax, VeriSign, Verizon, CA and Booz Allen Hamilton. The aim of this new organization is exchange of online identity credentials across public and private sectors; in other words, it can certify online identity providers to U.S. federal standards."http://mashable.com/2010/03/03/google-paypal-oix/Hmm...

I decided to start digging out some of my old stuff that I either 1)haven't posted here before, or perhaps, 2)I posted it 5 years ago, but it is still relevant or 3) it is super popular (on twitter, on a blog, etc.) which makes me think it is worth a re-post. I promise my site is not about to become a re-hash and just like for the Question of the Day, these will have their own category and header.

So, this was MY question today: as in, I wanted to re-post a tweet about moonshine arts & literary magazine. I couldn't quite remember what I wrote and I didn't use a #hashtag. So what to do? How do you search your own twitter feed? There are lots of cool trending tools out there, but those are very limited in terms of timeframe. I personally like trendtastic.Per my usual M.O. I tweeted, buzzed, & facebook'd my request --even before I google'd, now what does that tell ya?

The buck stops at the library. If we keep cutting library aid, people who can’t figure out how to file for taxes, or how to use e-mail, are going to be out of luck.

Lots of aren't librarians cool stuff, but overall a nice piece on libraries and librarians. http://www.salon.com/books/nonfiction/index.html?story=/books/feature/2010/02/21/interview_marilyn_johnson_librarians

Covers the most basic elements of webdesign: layout, fonts, whitespace, color theory; additionally encompasses fundamental guidelines and findings regarding how users use the web.Btw, my portion is more of the design stuff. Oh, and this is a google presentation so the design of the presentation itself is a little fugly.
