Ok, even though there is a whole lot of controversy going on about library catalogs (thanks, Google, but you are not a library catalog... although you do many other fine things ...), I'm going to write about the exciting world of library catalog software. As always, this is just my opinion. ;)It seems that most libraries have been stuck with out of the box functionality from large software companies/vendors, in many cases, limited functionality which does not even began to mine the sophisication of the MARC formatting.

Ok, I don't know if this is cool or scary.-------------------------------------Atlanta's own Brian Mathews has come up with an innovative way to create unobtrusive library presence in the world of social software.Brian, the Distance Learning Services and Mechanical Engineering Librarian (wow) at Georgia Tech, runs his "ubiquitous reference model" by searching GA Tech students' Xanga and LiveJournal pages for library-related terms such as library, paper, and class.

ok these were done to help out the asset awards webpage committee. The graphic to the left uses a snippet of the 'official' graphics, the roulette wheel. Of course, I added the text to the wheel, plus did a bit of layout + design. Anyhow, I really like the on on the far right. I know it doesn't go with the official graphics so much, but it's definitely the one I like best. Oh, and the theme is 'vegas' in case you didn't figure it out.
