Reasons I unfollowed you in twitter -- I don't really care if you are a mayor in 4square

Well, this isn't the post I was going to write, but I wandered over to twitter karma, which made me think a little about who I follow and who I don't in twitter ;-)I use twitter to share my blog, push status updates to facebook, linkedin, and googlebuzz, as well as connect/network with others. I am not in a contest to see how many twitter followers I can get (I think Brittny Spears is still no.

whitehouse.gov moves to drupal

Obama's campaign site was running Expression Engine... interesting to see this move to opensource. (yay! opensource.... altho' I do have a special spot in my heart for EE, it's where I cut my CMS teeth... where I began to be brave enough to contribute solutions to a public forum ... Drupal Basics for Libraries

I had a great time teaching my Drupal Basics for Libraries class for Lyrasis. It includes a good grounding in CMS basics, including how those differ from what many of us think of as traditional web design. Anyhow, the class will be repeated in June, so, just keep an eye out. Drupal 7 news

The Drupal community is eagerly anticipating the unwrapping of its newest version 7 release. While there is speculation on when the official release date will happen, the end result will be a number of significant enhancements. The underlying focus has been on improving usability. In fact, an internationally renowned design firm was engaged to spearhead the efforts and facilitate community based suggestions. Drupal has long been accused as more of a "developer friendly" platform when stacked against its counterparts in the CMS world.

Creating digital art via touch

Touch screens aren't the only way of doing this. Shillito is leading a team that has developed software that allows artists to receive physical feedback when designing virtual 3D objects. The team's approach uses a haptic device called Falcon, which vibrates and moves to allow users to "feel" virtual objects. Originally developed for 3D gaming, Falcon is a cross between a joystick and a mouse. As the user moves the controller in three dimensions, its movements are mirrored by a cursor on the computer screen.
